So Northern Rock is to be taken into temporary public ownership. Good. Now the taxpayer has the assets as well as the liabilities.
Poor old Labour must be dreading the ‘Murdoch Press.’ We will have to see how the markets and the media react. My main gripe with the government is that they have taken far too long to do the right thing and ’spent’ far too much of our money.
Tories haven’t covered themselves in glory either. As far as I can understand, Conservative economic policy is to let the bank go bust… at least it was last week… (or was that the week before?!) Oh well, what can you expect from the team that brought us ‘Black Wednesday?’
